ARDEBIL – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated Sabalan combined cycle power plant’s gas unit in Ardebil province on Monday.

Ground was broken for the construction of Sabalan combined cycle power plant in 2006 and in less than 30 months it came on stream at the cost of $320 million, IRNA reported.
Currently, the power plant operates generating 636 MW of electricity and it is estimated that by adding two more gas and steam units the power plant’s generating capacity will reach 1,430 MW.
Energy Minister Parviz Fattah also attended the inauguration ceremony.
